About This Facility
The National Marine Hatchery project was designed to enhance marine aquaculture research, improve fish breeding capacity, and increase availability of quality fingerlings to support coastal fisheries. With a starting production capacity of 1.5 to 2 million fingerlings annually, focusing on prawn and rabbit fish (locally known as kamba and tafi respectively), the hatchery is set to transform aquaculture practices in the region and stimulate marine economic activity along the coast.
